Tips and Tricks for the NCLEX RN

Tips and Tricks for the NCLEX RN We gathered a group of nurses together who passed their exam on the first time. These are nurses that felt they did very well on the NCLEX-RN, and most passed with less than 80 questions. The group had suggestions. The first tip was questions, questions, questions (and answers). Many of them had done 3000-5000 questions. The vast majority used the Kaplan class and others used sources such as Board Vitals and ATI. Kaplan was really a staple of the group, though priced considerably higher than other offerings. The questions from ATI were ranked harder than what was on the exam, while Board Vitals provided adaptive testing and all of the different question types (hotspotting, multiple select). Some good topic areas to cover: Lab values, Urine Culture, Process around starting a new IV, Child Dev, Formulas, Formulas, Formulas! Sometimes the same math problem will be asked in a couple of different ways, or you may have to make the jump on unit conversions. They are not trying to trick you, but be careful about those conversions. Remember that acute conditions come first and then chronic conditions come later. There are several types of questions on the exam: multiple choice, multiple select, graphics based (hotspotting), drag and drop, and interpretation type questions. Based on the nurses we interviewed, the interpretation type questions (graphs, charts etc) were not terribly advanced or common. If you know how to read a basic plot chart, you should be able to handle that type of question pretty readily. Most that we interviewed had 6-10 pharma questions. These tended to be tougher questions, but you should be able to eliminate the obvious wrong choices. (apparently there are always a couple of really mismatched choices) More generally, most of the questions have 2-3 sentence question stems. The number of SATAs were very wide ranging. Some had a few, and others had quite a few. It’s worth reviewing those pretty heavily. At some point, make sure to sit down and do 265 questions in an actual timed setting. We think that Board Vitals is the best resource for the adaptive, timed testing environment.

There are two methods to consider when you want to know the English words in a foreign language. One of the easiest ways to learn a new language is to use an audio. Listen to the words and try to understand them. An audio helps you with the process of learning. This method will only teach you a few words that have different meanings. This is not a good method if you want to know hundreds of words. The second method to learn vocabulary is to search for English words in a book that is written in the language you want to learn. For example, if you want to learn the English words 'fish'mice', you can go to your local bookstore and search for the words on the shelves. If you do not know the correct spelling, you will find an online dictionary that is helpful for these words. It is not necessary that you have to purchase the book or audio to h elp you learn English words. You can also find these books in the public library. If you want to know the English words, your best option would be to find a site that provides translations of the words in different languages. There are many sites that provide English words, but you need to find one that is accessible in the language you want to learn. You can also search on Google as well as other search engines for English words. There are several keywords that are common to all languages and these words should provide you with useful information. If you know some words or phrases in the English language, you can use these words in a sentence. For example, 'a fish swims faster than a fish can swim'.Learning the English words can be a hard part, but it is a simple process once you have learned the proper techniques. Even though this method does not teach you how to use a computer or laptop, it will definitely help you learn vocabulary, for example, the English words 'mother's', 'man's' , 'father's' etc.

Introverts How to Tackle Sexism in the Workplace - Introvert Whisperer

Introvert Whisperer / Introverts How to Tackle Sexism in the Workplace - Introvert Whisperer Introverts: How to Tackle Sexism in the Workplace Sexism is by no means eliminated in the workplace. Even if it sometimes goes unnoticed, it’s an everyday reality for many all around the world. Introverts who experience or oversee sexism may struggle to tackle sexism in the workplace. There are many common characteristics of introverts, however, that can back up an introverts plans to eliminate sexism in the workplace. Write it out Although introverts are a “diverse bunch,” they are often characterised as people who “think before they speak.” If an introvert has a concern regarding sexism, therefore, they may find it easier to write out their worry. According to Huffington Post, introverts are “often better at communicating in writing than in person.” Having to speak their issue may lead to them feeling as though they’re in the spotlight. As introverts are self-aware, taking the time to compose a written complaint or account could allow introverts to confidently express their concern. If you, as an introvert, want to voice your worries regarding sexism in the workplace, perhaps consider doing so in an email or a letter. Seek some time out Introverts are known to see solitude as “essential.” In order to feel restored, introverts need time alone. Introverts feel pressured to push themselves into “social situations to the point of exhaustion.” If you, as an introvert, feel overwhelmed by the busyness of the office, try and find some alone time to process your thoughts on potential or obvious sexism in the workplace. If you’ve experienced sexism in the workplace or have overheard a sexist conversation, try and carve some time for yourself. Once introverts have found some solitude in their own company, according to Introvert Spring, “life becomes lighter.” Although sexism in the workplace should always be taken entirely seriously, an introvert may need some time away from the office to understand what they want to do next. Gather your thoughts Introverts like to be prepared. According to Medium, introverts hate being put on the spot. If you, as an introvert, feel you need to go home and prepare what you want to say before you complain about a sexist comment or confront sexism, do just that! Introverts tend to need well-thought-out answers and comments at the ready. Go home to your own space and prepare your thoughts in order to tackle the issue. If you intend on speaking to your boss about an issue, dont be afraid to do so with a notepad of notes by your side. If youre confronting someone whos said something sexist, ensure you feel ready by preparing yourself with ready-made responses. Since introverts are good at planning ahead, find time to make a plan so you approach sexism in the workplace confidently. Rely on someone you trust Introverts thrive in intimate settings and, thus, enjoy one-on-one company. If you, as an introvert, are concerned youve been the subject of sexism or have seen something troubling, rely on someone you trust. Youll likely get your thoughts across in a far more succinct manner this way than if you had to tackle the issue in a larger group. In a one-to-one context, its easier for introverts to talk about more meaningful topics. Introverts shouldnt feel overwhelmed so long as they can speak to just one person about their concerns. Take a trusted colleague to one side and explain what has happened and ask for their advice. Speaking to someone you trust may lead to the bigger picture being resolved. Although introverts rarely volunteer to speak up, its important to tackle sexism in the workplace head-on. Introverts are often mistaken for shy, when, really they prefer to first observe before engaging. If you have been a subject of sexism or have noticed an uneasy atmosphere in the office, dont hesitate to do something about it. As long as you address the sexism in the workplace, it doesnt matter whether you do so in an introvert or extrovert kind of way. Summer Camp Near Me

Summer Camp Near Me Searching for a Summer Camp Near Me ChaptersFranchise CampsSTEM CampsFinding a Summer Camp Near YouYou might think it premature to start hunting for summer camps before spring arrives; we beg to differ.First, summer camps aren’t just for summer â€" that is to say, the same organisations that operate summer camps also operate Easter camps, the time when our kids are out of school with possibly no one to care for them at home.Unless we take time from work.Plenty of people plan their family holidays around schools’ spring semester break; maybe they register online for family camp instead of travelling abroad or heading to their favourite spot on the coast. For those of us who are office-bound (or bound to whichever setting you work in) while our kids are scheduled off from school, we face the same dilemma that parents all over the world do: who will do for our kids?If you are not lucky to have family close by or a network of friends who could jump in as needed, a camp â€" day camp, residence camp or a themed camp could be just the ticket.Your Superprof is not the only one to think so.Sports camps, adventure camps, arts and crafts camps and science camps; camps for kids and camps for teens, camps for boys and girls (they are housed separately in residence camps, of course)…All around the UK, all manner of camps have been springing up. They cater to virtually every interest from the archery range to environmental education and from basketball camp to the theatre arts.If you have never thought of treating your children â€" or your entire family to the camp experience, it’s high time you try. That is why we present some of the best camps around the country.Surely one will be near you?Going further: they may not even have the same camp programs; many camps, be they day camps or extended care, plan their activities based on the natural resources available to them at that location. For instance, throughout Sussex, you can find camps that include water sports. Those would be much harder to find in a l and-locked city such as Birmingham or Leeds. On the other hand, due to their close proximity to the Pennines, you would be far more likely to find rock climbing camps or a ropes course in Birmingham and Manchester than, say, in London.Of course, some London gyms have fine climbing and ropes facilities; it’s just that they are more likely to be indoors â€" and we’re focusing on outdoor adventures! Camp Summer programs often involve water sports such as canoeing or rafting Image by Jaime Reimer from PixabayLearn and Experience has taken the idea of proliferation seriously. Not only do they have camps in Yorkshire, but they’ve also gone global with camps in Spain and several more planned world-wide. Stay tuned for the one opening soon in British Columbia! They are no doubt inspired by the international visitors they host; guests that come from all over Europe and as far away as Australia.Still, no matter who shows up at their facilities, you can be sure they will be treated to lots of fun activities, enriching experiences and lessons in life skills taught by caring camp counselors.Ultimate Activity CampsIf you live in the south of England, no further north than Birmingham, you may look into Ultimate Activity.Rather cleverly, this organisation has partnered with schools to provide their campers secure, well-stocked facilities, and each of these camps’ activities revolves around what is available onsite. You should know that all of their activities and camps are age-appropriate; they would not send a 5-year-old to the archery range, nor would a teen be tasked with taking care of younger campers. That is unless they were a counselor-in-training. Still, it wouldn’t be your teenager, for whom you’ve paid a registration fee to participate in the activities â€" not orchestrate them.Ultimate has four main programmes you and your child can choose from:Ultimate Activity: suitable for 4- to 14-year-olds; features arts and crafts, sports and outdoor activitiesUltimate Survival: OFSTED-approved survival scenariosUltimate Sports (ages 7 to 14): train in hockey, netball, cricket or athletics (running and such)Ultimate International: an action-packed day camp for speakers of other languages to learn and play alongside native English speakersNot all programmes are available in all locations; you would have to check their website to see what is available, when and where it will be available. You can download the parent handbook from there, too.In our companion article, Summer Camps for Kids, we feature more of such franchise camps, along with their contact information. STEM camps for children are an excellent way to kindle a fascination with robotics Image by skeeze from PixabaySTEM CampsMuch is being made of STEM these days; that would be science, technology, engineering and mathematics. To wit, reports often show that there is a dearth of students â€" especially female students, embracing these subjects. Yet, people knowledgeable in these subjects are greatly sought after; indeed, job market hawks predict that STEM positions will be grossly understaffed by the time our kids graduate from university. What if your child(ren) have no interest in maths but love playing video games? With the proper introduction, your kids could be future STEM graduates. Such an introduction could be had through any of the tech camps located throughout the UK and Firetech is an excellent case in point.Firetech now has 25 locations throughout the country, from resort town such as Bristol to as far north as Edinburgh, each hosting after school and weekend workshops as well as day camps and summer residential camps.Other outfits throughout the UK also have residential camps…Firetech offers a range of learning pathways, from coding to robotics. If your child finds s/he has an aptitude for it, s/he might even prefer electronic camps!Whether for a weekend workshop or summer day camps, Firetech maintains an 8:1 camper/guide ratio to ensure that each of their participants receives the ultimate in guidance and attention. It goes without saying that that same level of care goes into their residence camps…Mad Science Holiday CampsOf all the camps we’ve featured so far â€" indeed throughout this series on camping, only Mad Science is truly international.Founded in Canada in 1985, born of a passion for neat effects â€" it all started with a helium-neon laser, this enterprise now has a presence in more than 20 countries. Aren’t we so glad that the UK is one of their homes! In a sense, you can call Mad Science an adventure camp because kids will behold wonde rs of the natural and created world â€" not by sitting around while the show goes on before them but by participating.Getting hands-on with science is one of the best ways to get your kids interested in the subject.
